Philosophy

The philosophy of the Society is laid out in our constitution.

It is:

(a) To encourage the study of economics and its application in Australia.

(b) To assist or participate in the training and professional development of economists as deemed appropriate.

(c) To promote the teaching and study of economics in secondary schools
and colleges and in the training programmes of other professions
and occupations.

(d) To encourage informed public debate of economic questions.

(e) To co-operate with the Central Council and other branches of the Economic Society of Australia in the general work of the Society.

(f) To issue publications and other matters concerning the interests of members as may be practicable.

In 2007, The Society intends to do more to drive this philosophy forward.
